A rustic, purple dessert table

We are bringing the pretty back to Eat Drink Pretty today thanks to this beautiful dessert table submitted by Erin of Erin Bell Photography.

This table is full of the most stunning desserts and it is sure to inspire you for future events. An old dresser, a pair of white curtains and a few random platters and you can achieve this look.

The gorgeous centerpiece looks like wild flowers, freshly picked.
This cake is amazing!  I love the ruffly look.  I know this is still far away, and trust me, I don't want my baby girl growing up too fast but, I can totally picture this cake at her 1st birthday party, the ruffles matching a pretty white ruffly dress that she could be wearing.

And now for some close-ups of  these little beauties.  I want to eat them all.   Purple truffle goodness.   Pretty fabric garland.
I love the little birdies that were incorporated and the birch tree stump stands.   I have no idea how this cake was frosted but I love this look.  I have no doubt this will be pinned a lot and added to all those yummy cake/dessert boards on Pinterest.  Speaking of Pinterest, you can follow me as well as pin any photo from my posts (you have to be in the individual post and not just the home page, and then you will see the "pin it" button).  I think I have a newfound love of the color purple at seeing this dessert table.  Thanks so much to Erin for sharing!

Happy third anniversary to my honey!

{Photo credits: Sewell Photography}

Today is Erik and my 3 year wedding anniversary.

I love this man so much. He is a wonderful husband and I know he will be an amazing daddy to our little girl that we're expecting in March.

We're celebrating this evening at our favorite Japanese restaurant (Fuji Ya!) and have already exchanged the appropriate "leather" gifts. Each year we've exchanged gifts based on the number of years we've been married (first year was paper, second year was cotton). I got a Coach leather clutch, yeah! We typically do very small gifts but for some reason this year we both went a little crazy. I bought him a leather ottoman for our living room, he's been wanting one to go with a big comfy chair we have.

Love you honey and happy anniversary!

Wedding season!

The weekend was BUSY! Erik and I are were in our good friend's wedding (I've only mentioned Libby and Biffer about a thousand times on the blog so far...). Erik was the best man and I was the matron of honor.

The wedding was amazing. Perfect weather. A gorgeous, happy bride. A sweet, sentimental groom. Families thrilled to be joining together. Friends that were over-served and dancing the night away.

Here are just a few quick photos of the wonderful day.  I'll do a full post when Libby gets her professional photos!

I love weddings :)

Minnesota lake life photo shoot - part 2, the details

Thanks for checking back for part 2 of the Callie V Photography Minnesota lake life photo shoot. Today is all about the pretty details and cute bride and groom couple.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day or a more gorgeous lake home for the shoot. There were acres of lush green lawn, sparkling water and picturesque views.

Callie and team set up a gorgeous tablescape right on the lake shore.  Ranunculus in bud vases lined the table.

The San Pelligrino bottle served as inspiration for the shoot.

How awesome is this cocktail/lemonade table?

Callie and her team had no shortage of nautical details to incorporate into the shoot.
The photo shoot was so lovely and a perfect way to celebrate the end of summer.  When it's cold and snowy in Minnesota I will look back on the shoot to keep me warm.

The shoot was a huge success and featured on Style Me Pretty!  Awesome job to Callie and everyone involved.

Minnesota lake life photo shoot - part 1, dessert table

I was lucky to be asked to be a part of Callie V Photography's I heart Minnesota lake life photo shoot a few months back. The concept was all about nautical details, inspired by a San Pelligrino Limonata bottle.  The photo shoot was beautiful and was recently featured on Style Me Pretty!  I'm doing a two-part feature so be sure to come back tomorrow to see the adorable bride and groom and all the gorgeous details.

Callie shared this inspiration board and I went to work. My vision for the dessert table was to keep it clean and simple with delicious, lemony treats and navy accents.

I incorporated lemons into the table by submerging them in water in clear, cylinder vases.  Easy, affordable and it created a huge impact.

I made lemon curd tartlets with a dollup of whipped cream and lemon zest and placed them on a cake stand for height.
I cheated and used a store-bought lemon cake mix to make cupcakes but topped them with homemade lemon buttercream, accented with a lemon drop.

Callie asked that I incorporate s'mores into the table to fit within the lakeside theme so I bundled them inside a souffle cup and tied with a yellow ribbon.

I also made mini lemon cupcakes with a bit of lemon zest for color.

I was really happy with how the table turned out and have to thank my sister for helping me a ton that day!  She kept me calm while I fretted/stressed about melting buttercream and sticky gumballs due to the heat.  In the end, everything worked out!

Thanks to Callie V for including me in this gorgeous shoot.  Tomorrow's post will include the tablescape, lemonade/cocktail stand and a cute bride and groom!

Style Me Pretty feature!

A couple months ago I was a part of a lakeside photo shoot concepted, designed and photographed by Callie V Photography.  She reached out to MN wedding vendors and creative types to join her in the shoot and I designed the dessert table.

The shoot was so lovely, soft yellows and blues...set on a picturesque private lakehome in Minnesota on a gorgeous summer day.  I was happy to be a part of it and even happier when I learned it was going to be featured on Style Me Pretty!

The feature went up on Friday, head over there and check it out to see many photos and a list of all the awesome vendors that helped make this photoshoot happen.

A classic wedding inspiration board

{Photo credits: Style Me Pretty and David's Bridal}

By now you have heard of my good friend Libby's upcoming the year she has been engaged my husband and I hosted a fall-inspired engagement party and I recently threw her a black and white foodie bridal shower. We also have a wine/cheese/dinner/dancing bachelorette party to look forward to in the next couple weeks as well!

Libby is marrying her best friend, Jason. They met through Erik and I, who also happen to be the matron of honor and best man in their wedding. They are great friends of ours and we never have a shortage of fun and lots of laughs. One of my favorite things to do with Libby and Jason is to grab a few (or more...) beers and bonfire in our backyard. They are a laid back, fun-loving couple who you can always count on. Seriously, they are the type of friends you call when your car is broken down on the side of the road and they'll make it to you quicker than anyone else.
Libby and Jason's wedding in September and it is taking place downtown St. Paul at a historic venue (413 on Wacouta). They have a lot of classic, simple details that will result in a stunning wedding:
  • Black and white details with a touch of latte/browns
  • Mini calla lilly bouquets and centerpieces (DIY by her talented mother-in-law to be!)
  • A black/white/brown dessert table filled with cupcakes, macarons and candy
  • A strapless lace gown with gorgeous Badgley Mischka shoes
  • A subtle food theme with food labels for each table, tons of delicious appetizers and a family style meal
  • No shortgage of great wine
I can't wait to share her wedding photos with you in a few months!

Real wedding: Amy and Jay's Indian/American wedding, part 2

Sorry for the delay in getting Amy and Jay's part two wedding post up. Truthfully, what happened was there were so many amazing photos to sift through I couldn't get this done in one evening.

The Hindu ceremony and reception was nothing short of amazing. Vibrant, gorgeous colors, outfits custom made in India, a happy groom in traditional dress, ecstatic familes, dancing in the street and my best friend looking more beautiful than I have ever seen her look before.

I think the first photo on the left above is my favorite from the day.  She looks like an Indian goddess or royalty...if I were her I would blow this photo up huge and hang it in every room in my house.

The bridesmaids and Amy watched the barat from a window above the street where the procession took place.

Jay rode down the street on a horse while all the families sang and danced.
Amy and Jay's mandap was intricate and gorgeous.
The Hindu ceremony was like nothing I've ever experienced before.

The bridesmaids carried these baskets while we walked down the aisle.
The reception decor was like something you would see out of an episode of Platinum Weddings.  Tall, flowery centerpieces, candles, chiavari chairs, custom menus...beautiful.

A lounge was set up around the dance floor.
I set up two simple candy tables on both sides of the ballroom.  I struggled with this one a bit because I wanted to design something that was a departure from the hot pink and acqua color scheme so I went with a peacock-inspired table.  I also had to keep it simple without too much candy because in addition to the candy bar there was an American dessert buffet and an Indian dessert buffet.  The amount of food and booze at this wedding was astounding.  I drank many martinis.  Many.

The gorgeous calligraphy was by Lovely Scribbles.
I had macarons custom made to match the blue and gold colors.
The elephant ice luge was a big draw.  Guests loved it....especially around 11pm when the martinis were (literally) flowing.
There's Winston and I being announced and entering the ballroom, all I can say is thank goodness for open bar and the fabric I was able to wrap around my midrift.
Amy and Jay got a few minutes to sneak out onto the hotel balcony for some photos.
As you can see, the bride had a fabulous time and was dancing up a storm by the end of the night.  After an entire weekend she was ready for her two week honeymoon in Italy.
